Gaurav was born in a small town in India in a lower middle-class household with few means, but it was a pretty stable and happy family.
Since childhood he had always wondered what this life, or in other words, living was all about. He used to think why live, if one day you will not be here living anymore. It felt useless to him. However, for obvious reasons he could not ask this question as everybody seemed to be very comfortable with their lives and from where he was standing, looked like they had every idea what life was about. He could not shake this question away, no matter how much he tried, but slowly he got busy in school, friends, studies and eventually stopped thinking about it.
He had always pondered what this life, or, to put it another way, living was all about since he was a youngster. He used to wonder why live if you won’t be here to live one day. It seemed pointless to him. However, for obvious reasons, he was unable to raise this question because everyone appeared to be extremely content with their lives and, from where he stood, appeared to have every notion what life was all about.
He couldn’t get this question out of his head, no matter how hard he tried, but he ultimately became distracted with school, friends, and academics and stopped thinking about it.
When he travelled to the United Kingdom and studied the culture there, his life took an unexpected turn.
‘Out of My Mind’ is an autobiography of a young ‘Gaurav Sengupta’ with philosophical ideas out of his grasp who journeys to find the meaning of life. Somewhere along the way, perhaps, he learns why he was sent down on planet earth, but for that, he will have to question concrete beliefs.
